`D.I.Y makeup boards and brush holders
So recently whislt I was browsing online I found these gorgeous and convenient ways to DIY store and use your makeup and brushes ~~~ I also made a makeup board and a makeup brush divider c:
If you're like me and you think DIY is great but you try follow instructions and it turns out nothing like other people's DIY masterpieces, these are some fool proof ways to create some stunning personalised makeup storage pieces ☺️
Magnetic makeup boards For the magnetic makeup board you can either use a white board or an old frame as a base for the board.
You'll need; -an old frame and a magnetic board or a whiteboard
- if you're using the frame and magnetic board base, you'll also need fabric to cover up the magnetic board
- you'll need little magnetic circles to attach it to the backs of your makeup
- hot glue gun or magnetic tape
OR
( what I used) - A self standing frame ( with glass cover) as I wasn't going to hang up the board
- some fabric for design
-blu tack
How to 1.You'll need to find a magnetic board that's around the same size as your frame. (Or if you're doing the whiteboard option skip to step 4)
2.When you do, wrap your chosen fabric around the magnetic board 3. Stick your board into your frame and close it properly.
4. Using your hot glue gun, stick the little magnets onto the back of your makeup items, some larger ones may require more than one magnet I.e you might want a brush holder on it.
5. Place the items however you want. I.e placing the magnet or blu tac on the lid of your eyeliner pencil instead of the body so when you go to use it, its easy.
6. Secure your board with blu tac or nails 7. Now you're done ☺️☺️☺️
My board: I stuck the items on upside down so the lids wouldn't affect me as I wasn't planning to take the items down to use them from the board and it would also be easier to use. It reminds me of an artists paint palette 😯
The items I put on the board are things that I use a lot/ moderately but I wouldn't need to take off and put into my makeup bag when I go places e.t.c I just think it would be a hassle taking the pieces off then putting things on again (blu tack is hard to remove)
I put my stand on top of a green tea tin to make it taller and easier to acess.
Blu tack is really good to use since it's re-usable I left my eyeshadows and powders slightly agar so it would be easier to access because when I tried to open it from when it was closed, the whole item came off with it. If you're planning to hang your board then you'll need one that has a hanger on the back otherwise you'll need a board that has a stand at the back so you can prop it up. You may also want to use blu tack to stabilize the frame and stand.
Some other peoples boards;
Magnetic makeup board;
This board is so modern and simplistic, I like how neat and arranged it is and how it has brush holders Whiteboard makeup board, it's nice because you can draw on it and put reminders up, or put up an array of makeup up there for makeup of the day or for an event. It's also handy to write down when to write down when you need to wash each makeup brush;
Next: Makeup brush holder ideas
I really wanted to find something that would hold my makeup brushes in place because I didn't really like it just flopping around all over the place and because I wanted to protect the bristles and the handles.
Some unique ideas;
Using an old brush to hold your thinner makeup brushes and pencils
Using coffee beans to hold your brushes in place and also acting as an air refreshment if you like the smell of coffee beans
Using a clear jar and decorating the jar with stickers and filling it with little beads
Using an ice cube tray to hold makeup brushes e.t.c
Using a sushi rolling mat, inserting an elastic band and measuring out how big you want each brush hole to be, to hold your makeup brushes and becoming a makeup brush roll. I love this idea, it's so amazing and cool 🙆😃 but I already have a brush roll and I don't even use it >.< I used two pieces of plastic rectangles and cut slits on each side to the middle and to piece together this, in this case the sides of my Tony moly Tomatox box;
And then I used it as a divider in the middle of my Tweety pen holder to store my makeup brushes in. I added in fabric around the sides to protect the brush handles e.tc
And that concludes today's D.I.Y lesson and ideas. I hope they inspire you guys to create your own 😊 Labels: D.I.Y, DIY makeup, DIY makeup brush holder, magnetic makeup boards, makeup board, makeup brush holder, ulzzang, whiteboard makeup board
